| The Oxford Trust is an independent charitable trust, founded in 1985 by entrepreneurs Sir Martin and Audrey, Lady Wood. Its mission is to encourage the pursuit of science and enterprise and has played a pivotal role in the regions innovation and STEM education ecosystem for over three decades. The Trust has a simple but effective charitable business model: it owns and runs the Oxford Centre for Innovation (OCFI) in central Oxford and the Wood Centre for Innovation (WCFI) located in the health sciences quarter of Headington. Income from the innovation centres is reinvested into its Science Oxford branded education and engagement programmes. The strength of the model is that it is self-sustaining and supports both ends of the ecosystem, from inspiring young children about the wonders of science to helping tech start-ups to develop and grow. With over 40,000 sq ft of innovation space from co-working, offices, laboratory and workshop spaces to meeting and conference facilities the Trust is the largest integrated provider in Oxford city. Start-up companies can, if eligible, receive discounts in their early years up to an equivalent to a whole year’s accommodation. The Trust set up OION thirty years ago so we are especially interested in organisations being supported by this investor network. Find out more at: www.theoxfordtrust.co.uk |
